This years UK Audio Show review, again based at Staverton Park Hotel has just closed its doors.

A great array of products were both on display and operational for potential consumers and fellow industry contacts to peruse and listen to.

The show is a great opportunity for smaller upcoming brands to show of their products such as Moor Amps and their new Ascalon-8 speakers and Zinamp with their new Z-Act active turntable cartridge.

Also as a new one to us here at RJP Audio Overhaul were American manufacturer Bricasti Design, pictured below.

The show was also and always a great chance for dealers to show their great range of available products from various manufacturers such as HiFi Lounge, below:

One surprising range of products at the event were car audio amplifier manufacturer, Audio Wave. These hand built amplifiers at the show were being used to drive HiFi speakers to demonstrate their overall ability, and boy didn’t they sound great!

The show also had many stands of accessories and peripheral equipment, from cables, plug adaptors to even sound media itself (Vinyl).

But keep an eye out for early bird tickets to next years UK Audio Show as we will be, here at RJP Audio Overhaul.

Its that time of the year again that the UK Audio Show is opening its doors again at Staverton Park Hotel for 2023.

Dates for the show are Saturday 7th October and Sunday 8th October.

This weekend long event is a great showcase for both many manufacturers but dealers too.

Like last year RJP Audio Overhaul will be visiting the whole event. That being the case the workshop will be closed while we are visiting the event, but we will endeavour to answer your e-mail enquiries when we get a quiet spell.

Here at RJP Audio Overhaul, we often get asked about re-capping hifi equipment.

There are a few factors to take into consideration when performing a re-cap. How physically accessible are the capacitors? Are the capacitor values still available? Are any specialized capacitors required?

So far we’ve found as a rule that most re-capping jobs take around the three hour mark to perform. This does not always cover calibration and testing which need to be performed afterwards.

Hard to get capacitors are generally large reservoir versions in units power supplies. But as these capacitors have a longer shelf life than smaller ones, we tend to only source and change them if absolutely necessary.

Other specialized capacitors are axial and bipolar types. Values of which tend to be few and far between and of a much larger cost, especially the axial versions.

One thing to also bear in mind is that virtually all modern capacitors are physically smaller than yester years versions due to improvements in build and technology techniques. These improvements also mean that lesser known / generic brands are probably just as good performance wise as the big name branded capacitors from twenty years ago.
